Autumn Equinox
The Equinox is to say it simply, when the sun shines directly on the equator, and the northern and southern hemispheres get the same amount of light. This alignment officially occurs at 8:03pm, 9/22/22 but we start to feel the effects the day before and a few days after. The Equinox, like the Solstices is the ushering of a new season! It is a great time to check in with yourself, with your surroundings and begin to align yourself with the new.
Do you take time to connect with the changes of the season and how?
Here are some of simple and effective practices surrounding the Autumn Equinox:
use what feels called to you…
Allow: As the new season starts to usher in, make space for releasing the warmer months and longer days and allowing for the darkness and giving yourself space to go within. Journal, Soak up the Sun, Gratitude journaling..
Release: Declutter your home , work space or car… Bring balance to your home.. Look under your bed and in your junk drawers and release what doesn’t serve you. Sell what you no longer have use for and donate what you can. If you are surrounded by to much “stuff”, duplicates, clutter, it will create chaos in your mind.
Restore: Take time for intentional breathing and meditation. Breathing deeply into your heart space and directing your breath to your solar plexus bridging our higher and lower chakras.
Connect: Feet to Earth! Find time in nature, go on a hike, head to the park or experience autumnal festivities outdoors. Make time to exercise/meditate outdoors!
Adorn: Bring Autumnal scents into your home, flowers, decorations, fruits. Decorate your altar and if you have a dedicated Ancestor altar, bring them fresh flowers.
Altar dressing and Ancestor Gratitude: Clean your altar, plant new seeds, work with candle magick and bring gifts to your Ancestors with gratitude.
